Duties and Responsibilities:EMTs or Emergency Medical Technicians are the health care professionals who initially assess the condition of the patients and determine the necessary course of action. These workers provide medical support to the patients while they are carried to the hospitals. They respond to the emergencies arising out of causalities like criminal violence, natural disasters, fires, air and land accidents, etc. Most of them render their services on a land ambulance but may also work on an air ambulance plane or helicopter. Salary:According to the U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average salary in 2012 was $31,020 per year, and $14.91 an hour.
Education:Approved training program(s) at the appropriate EMT level; some programs lead to certificates or associate's degrees.State licensure; most states utilize the exams proctored by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT)
Demand or need for this profession:Employment of emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and paramedics is projected to grow 24 percent from 2014 to 2024, much faster than the average for all occupations. Emergencies, such as car crashes, natural disasters, and acts of violence, will continue to create demand for EMTs and paramedics.
Reflection:Maybe i would like to become one because then i could help people. I could probably saves someone's life and be known for that. I would saves people and make people happy because I probably saved one of their families members.
