Chiropractor
Duties and Responsibility:A chiropractor is a health care professional focused on the diagnosis and treatment of intramuscular disorders, with an emphasis on treatment through manual adjustment and/or manipulation of the spine. Most chiropractors seek to reduce pain and improve the functionality of patients as well as to educate them on how they can account for their own health via exercise, ergonomics and other therapies to treat back pain.
Salary:The lower 10 percent of earners averaged $14.96 per hour, or $31,120 per year, while the highest 10 percent reported average income of $68.55 per hour, or $142,570, per year. These numbers can be deceptive, since chiropractors typically charge by the session rather than per hour.
Education:Doctoral or professional degree
Demand for this profession:Employment of chiropractors is projected to grow 17 percent from 2014 to 2024, much faster than the average for all occupations. People across all age groups are increasingly becoming interested in alternative or complementary healthcare. Chiropractic care is appealing to patients because chiropractors use nonsurgical methods of treatment and do not prescribe drugs.
